The word Ayurveda is much familiar to all Malaysians in past few decades. Ayurveda is made up of two Sanskrit words - Ayu - which means “life” and Veda - which means “knowledge”. So, Ayurveda means a science which explains about leading a healthy long life. It incorporates all aspects of life whether physical, psychological, spiritual or social. What is beneficial and what is harmful to life, what is happy life and what is sorrowful life; all these four questions and life span allied issues are elaborately discussed in Ayurveda.

As per Ayurveda, 'Health' is a state of equilibrium of normal functions of doshas, dhatus, malas and agni. It means that when Doshas, Dhatus, Malas and Agni are constantly in a state of functional equilibrium, then the health is maintained. Otherwise distortion of the equilibrium results into diseases. Disordered lifestyle is believed to be one of the basic reasons behind the failure of maintaining the equilibrium.

The treatment, either with or without drugs and application of specific rules of diet, activity and mental status as described, disease wise, brings back the state of equilibrium i.e. health. Basically Ayurveda emphasis on prevention of disease.

The importance of Ayurveda and its therapeutic techniques in the contemporary society differ geographically across the world. However, Ayurveda has earned a place as a Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) in the western world especially in the United States.

Hence we can see a blend of different Asian culture and many traditional treatments in Malaysia. The Increasing number of tourists and massage centers has also made Kuala Lumpur a hub of many traditional massages. Most of the tourists who visit Kuala Lumpur, are confused to choose the best and genuine massage centers. Due to busy lifestyle and over stress, most of the people suffer severe health issues. Much people who dwell here opt traditional herbal medicines and therapies to modern medicine. Here is where the authentic traditional ayurveda massage and therapy is highly relevant. Ayurvedic medicines are made up of natural ingredients of herbs and are free from any side-effects. The medicines provide the human body all the things it wants and completely eradicates the use of adverse supplements and foodstuffs that can sometimes act as a barrier in the treatment.

The limitation of modem medical science in controlling various diseases like Rheumatoid arthritis, Auto immune diseases, Alzheimer's etc are forcing modem scientists to look for various alternative systems of medicines for controlling such challenging disorders. Adoption of Ayurveda seems to be one of the best possible solutions to such problems because of its cost effective and safety to use for longer duration.
