Nasyam is a Panchakarma therapy in which medicated oils are administered into the nasal passages to clear kapha dosha (phlegm) from the upper respiratory tract and sinuses. It also helps with brain fogginess, memory loss, neck stiffness and Vata disorders such as numbness and giddiness.
It is performed as a continuous 3, 5, 7 or 10-day course with strict rest and specific dietary care under practitioner guidance. Each session begins with a gentle face, neck and shoulder massage with herbal steam (Swedana), after which a precise dose of medicated oil is administered while you recline. An enquiry and consultation are required first, and the therapy is carried out over consecutive days.

Nasyam should be avoided with a common cold (acute coryza), high fever, immediately after a meal, during acute indigestion, or with a nasal injury.
