Uro Vasti (Chest Care)
A specialised chest therapy where warm medicated oil is pooled over the chest within a dough ring. Supports breathing, eases chest-muscle tightness and calms emotional stress. Cannot be booked online — send an enquiry or book a free consultation first.
Uro Vasti, also known as Hridaya Vasti, is a chest-care therapy in which a ring of black-gram dough is built on the chest to hold warm medicated oil pooled over the heart and lung region. The oil rests for roughly thirty to forty-five minutes and is refreshed to stay comfortably warm, allowing a grounding warmth and gentle weight to settle over the centre of the chest.
After the pooled-oil phase, a gentle massage and a warm Kizhi (herbal poultice) follow, leaving the chest feeling open, soothed and at ease.
What this therapy supports
- Enhances breathing by expanding the lungs, easing spasms and clearing congestion
- Strengthens and nourishes the heart muscles and improves circulation
- Relieves emotional stress by calming the Anahata (heart) centre
- Eases intercostal and chest-wall tightness
The session, step by step
Lying on the back
You lie comfortably on your back so the centre of the chest is accessible.
Building the dough wall
A ring of black-gram dough is built over the centre of the chest to form a leak-proof well.
Warm pooled oil
Warm medicated oil is poured in and refreshed to stay warm for around 30 to 45 minutes, giving a grounding warmth and gentle weight.
Soothing massage
The dough is removed and a gentle massage is given over the chest.
Warm Kizhi
A warm herbal poultice (Kizhi) is applied to complete the therapy.
Uro Vasti is only carried out after thorough case-taking by a qualified Vaidya. It should be avoided in acute heart conditions, after a recent heart attack or during any medical emergency, where there are active skin infections, open wounds or rashes on the chest, during fever, cold, severe congestion or infectious illness, and during pregnancy unless cleared by an expert physician. For these reasons the therapy cannot be booked online; a free consultation with our Ayurveda Vaidya is required first.
